In the early days of SEO, you could get a site to rank fairly easily by buying a bunch of low-quality backlinks, keyword stuffing (including the same keyword on a page a bunch of times), or by buying a domain address (website name) that exactly matched the keyword you wanted to rank for. Google is constantly evolving to better understand the context and intent of user behaviour. Long form content is an inbound marketing strategy that is being used by organizations in many different industries. In order to take advantage of long form content in your organization’s marketing, consider adding these tips and ideas to your strategy. Keyword research is still useful for example but we now know that Google doesn ’t want us to overly stuff our website with those search terms. Instead, the recommendation hovers at around 1-2% keyword density. If you write a long article and include the search term a few times, then that should be enough as long as it’s also in your code a little, or in your file name.

Some small-business owners can't find the time to implement SEO recommendations

Before entering a new market, it’s crucial to do a proper market analysis and identify the opportunities and threats that you could encounter. When you link to a webpage, you’re proclaiming that you trust that content as a resource – so your brand is on the line. The Google algorithm incorporates hundreds, if not thousands, of signals when determining where pages rank for a search. Knowing which factors carry the most weight and optimizing accordingly can be the difference between success and failure. To maintain a healthy website, do an overall audit of your underperforming blog content or articles to determine what to keep, what to make more robust, and what to remove.

Look for scraped content on your website

The rank is the position that your website occupies in the SERPs for particular searches. Your rank is an indicator of how relevant your website is for a search term from the search engine’s perspective, and what authority it has. Be aware of long-tail keywords, which are usually three to four words in length. The longer the keyword, the more specific it is. That means lower competition and, often, higher conversion rates by nature. Understanding how search engines work is an important component of SEO. The search engines are constantly tuning their algorithms Keywords should never be used to try to trick or mislead human beings or Google spiders.. This means using keywords that do not exactly describe the contents of your page, repeating a keyword over and over in a way that in not natural (known as “keyword stuffing”) or using any other black hat SEO tactics (like keywords in a white font on a white background) are all off limits.

Adjust your appearance in search

Many years ago, Google put together its search quality team, which is responsible for ensuring users get the best possible user experience by making sure that key signals of quality websites align well with results on search engine pages. Their job description is straightforward “A few hundreds of millions of times a day people will ask Google questions, and within a fraction of a second Google needs to decide which among the billions of pages on the web to show them — and in what order.” Efficient content organization enhances the message without interfering with the content’s purpose. It’s not easy to explain this in simple, concise terms. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you want to change content “for SEO” or “for presentation”. If you are only thinking of the SEO benefit of the proposed change then it’s the wrong change. Prove that you are trustworthy by connecting as closely as possible to high authority sites. Use structured data to further explain your topics. Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Google already gives ranking boosts to sites on a secure protocol (https vs. http) and this emphasis on security will only grow as time passes."

Content is for humans

A web page can be given an immediate freshness score based on its publication date, which decays over time as the content becomes older. Stop using keywords in your URLs. Why? Because if you don’t know how to optimize a page without slamming keywords into the URLs, you don’t know how to optimize a Web page. There is nothing as sad as people who spend days and weeks writing about something and then… nothing. All that passion and knowledge for nothing. Good, and yet unnoticed articles are something that happens every day and to everybody. It’s important to keep in mind that if search engine traffic is your only goal, your results will probably suffer. In order to please both the search engines (who will reward you with high rankings over time) and potential customers and return visitors, you need to offer value above and beyond search engine optimization. In other words, don’t produce “thin” content that ranks and get clicks, but doesn’t provide any additional value to the search engine user.
