Besides studying your web analytics data and using
keyword research tools, there is another very simple
research method: Use the search engine itself to do
keyword research. Good SEO means forgetting SEO and concentrating on your user then. And it also means forgetting SEO in that you are going to be trying to merge your different marketing strategies in order to create one bigger approach. It means trying to write amazing posts and share them on SEO so that you get more links and it means writing great content that keeps people on your page longer. Make sure that your web page URLs are SEO friendly, use mod re-write for Linux and Apahche hosting or use IIS redirect for Windows. Ideally make it so that the URLs describe your content. The world is always changing, and you have to keep up. If you do, the rewards can be great.
Anatomy of a Keyword
It’s also still worth pursing Wikipedia links when appropriate. Wikipedia is very picky about their references, so you’ll have to provide very niche, unique content, but if you can get a link it can bring about some pretty cool results – including other do follow links. The best way to
build links is to not build links. I’ve worked for companies in the past that don’t have to ask for them, they just flow in from press, customer blogs, their awesome blog posts, etc. If this is an option (and we’ll go over a couple of ways to make it more likely) you’re in a great place. Before the Google Penguin and Google Panda were let loose, SEO’s could manipulate a webpage’s rank more easily by adding lots of keywords to show Google that the page was relevant. This practice is what we now call keyword stuffing and is not just frowned upon by reputable SEO agencies, but is not tolerated by Google. Though you can simply just add a tracking code to your web pages for website analytics tools to start measuring
your web stats, Google Analytics (and products similar to it) have website plugins and add-ons that tremendously
expand the reporting capabilities.
The more value you can provide, the better
Over the past few years the way we use search engines have changed. We no longer just type words into search engines, we can speak to our phones and search by asking questions, or we can use smart assistants on devices such as Google Home to answer queries for us. Instead of focusing on
what you do or what you sell or why you’re awesome, instead focus on why your customers should care. Contextual link building is the quickest way to boost your site’s search performance. We thirst for conversation rather than being lectured. Those who merely push their message and never listen or engage usually are not as successful. So when someone comments on your blog or on your social media post, engage with them. You never know who has a website or blog. You never know who will build upon your knowledge and create their own post referencing your original post as a citation!
Optimize page titles
The search engines are able to analyze the reading level of the document. One popular formula for doing this is the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level Readability Formula, which considers things like the average word length and the number of words in a sentence to determine the level of education needed to be able to understand the sentence. Search engines decide rankings on what is called the results page. You will sometimes see me use the term SERP, which is the acronym for Search Engine Results Page. In a Google search, the search engine makes its decisions based on signals from websites and the person searching. Whenever possible, avoid changing URL structures. The easiest way to prevent broken redirects is to avoid creating the redirects in the first place. Gaz Hall
, an SEO Expert from the UK, said: "You won’t know how well or poorly your mobile strategy is going if the numbers are mixed in with the results and analytics of the desktop strategy."
Use Google’s Disavow Tool To Improve Ranking
With a good education, you can learn how to weave SEO best practices into your website. You can perform DIY SEO if you have the right education and you get yourself on the right path. Search engines optimize their
results pages — especially their mobile search results pages — to display businesses that are located near the searcher. This is a good thing for local businesses because local online searches lead to visitors and purchases. The seminal idea behind Google’s ranking technology makes it clear that inbound links are the primary vehicle by which Google discovers new pages and websites on the Internet, and they’re the primary way Google assesses the credibility of a given website. To prevent users from linking to one version of a URL and others linking to a different version (this
could split the reputation of that content between the URLs), focus on using and referring to one URL
in the structure and internal linking of your pages. If you do find that people are accessing the same
content through multiple URLs, setting up a 301 redirect from non-preferred URLs to the dominant
URL is a good solution for this.
